What’s The Difference Between All of These Wire Finishes?
Powder Coating is when we take your wire part and apply epoxy powder in a variety of colors. Powder Coating is a practical and durable finish that is one of our most popular. Vinyl finishes are applied by dipping the wire part into melted vinyl and then baking it solid in the oven. Plastisol is a thicker version of vinyl and is used most commonly for materials and products that need a very thick coat.
Wire Electropolish finishing is one of the custom services to our customers. Wire electropolishing is a post-fabrication process that can be applied to stainless steel wire parts only.
How Does Wire Electropolishing Work?
Wire Electropolishing is the opposite of normal plating techniques. It is sometimes referred to as reverse plating, because it takes off the top layer of stainless steel. This process is one part electrical current and one part chemical or acid bath. Wire electropolishing will leave your stainless steel looking shiny and new.
Electropolishing has been around for over 50 years and is a great way to keep your wire products looking new and working efficiently. Nothing is worse than wire shelves, baskets or paper catchers that are rough and discolored. With electropolished wire, you won’t have any snags or rough edges—but you will have a smooth, clean surface.
The Benefits of Wire Electropolishing
• While most people simply like the look of an electropolished finish, it has beneficial properties as well:
• Can be used to brighten and smooth wire parts.
• Removes oxidation and discoloration to stainless steel.
•An effective method for size control in small measurements.
•A safe and clean alternative to other chemical rinses on the market.•
